Seychelles - Best Flats Fishing in the World

Des Roches Island - Five Star Villas

Seychelles (say-shelz) is an island country comprising 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, 1000 miles east of Africa. To reach this remote atoll, you’ll have to travel halfway around the world, but it’s worth it. Here you’ll discover immaculate beaches, crystal blue waters and the best flats fishing in the world. The pristine flats are home to the most incredible fish-life one can experience with a fly rod, plus there are amazing blue water options. Their fishing season runs October to May.

Des Roches Island is 6 km. long and 1.5 km. wide with a population of fifty people. You’ll fish from both skiffs and bluewater boats at two different atolls for an incredible variety of game species. Each day there are 30 to 40 minute ferry boat rides to reach your fishing destination.

You’ll spend three days fishing Poivre and South Island which boast superb bonefishing, reef fishing and giant trevally. Poivre Atoll has one of the highest populations of permit in the Seychelles. A guided angler will have several good shots at permit, and the chance to hook fish increases with each minute you are wading across the flats. Fish the bluewater for massive tuna, dorado, wahoo, marlin and more. You’ll also spend three days at St. Joseph, one of the most productive and finest sandy flats in the world. Experienced anglers can land 30+ bones per day. Huge population of bonefish with some up to ten pounds.
