Expect 20 to 40 takes per day, sometimes up to 100!

Guatemala’s Pacific coast offers the highest concentration of billfish in the world. With numbers like 124 releases in a single day by one boat, and 300 releases in three days on conventional tackle. For pure volume of 80 to 100 pound fish, December through June tends to be the rule.

Expect 20 to 40 takes per day, and on exceptional days, more than 100. (Larger sailfish up to 150-pounds are usually taken during the fall.) Their stats show 40 plus sailfish are released each day in every month of the year. While targeting sailfish, marlin are encountered about every third day. Roosterfish are plentiful within minutes of the docks. Catch and release only on all billfish.

World class vessels are run by highly respected captains. Their fleet of classic gameboats is the finest you’ll find anywhere. Excellent opportunity to go for a billfish on a fly rod. 37’ to 40’ boats are ready with full fly tackle arsenal. All boats have had days in which at least 15 billfish have been released with fly rods. Their skills are equally polished in light tackle and multiple hook-up procedures. While 20 lb. general tackle is the standard, all boats have an 80 lb. rig ready to pitch to the occasional "beast."

Casa Vieja Lodge is less than a mile from the marina. A world class retreat, the lodge is surrounded by landscaped gardens and tropical foliage. King and queen-sized beds with luxurious linens. The lodge features fine cuisine, swimming pool and one day tours. Three course dinners inside the outdoor churatta. The churatta has a thirty foot long bar, wide screen televisions, dart board and pool table. Tours include helicopter sightseeing, flight to Tikal National Park, volcano hike, and more.

Includes:  airport reception, ground transfers between Guatemala City and lodge, lodging, meals, beer, all tackle, bait, lures and flies. Rates subject to change without notice and fuel surcharges may apply.
