Steelhead
Paradise - Sustut River
Comfortable
wading, lots of backcast room and the beautiful
Skeena Mountains
for a backdrop, the Sustut was made for
fly-fishing. The Sustut
River also known as "Mother of the
Skeena" is the last of the
wilderness
rivers in the Skeena system. There are no roads. To fish
for
the giant steelhead of the Sustut, anglers must fly in by plane
or helicopter and must travel the river by jet boat or helicopter.
Fishing season begins in August for the largest run of king
salmon
in the Skeena system (averaging 20 to 30-pounds and
some over 50).
Early September steelhead begin to appear for
the best dry fly
fishing of the year. The largest steelhead
appear
in October. Season
ends November 1st.
Class one status, non-resident anglers must be guided. The
river
and its large steelhead are protected by limiting the number
of
anglers per day on the river and strictly enforcing "catch and
release."
Lodge is accessible by air. Five cozy riverside cabins with toilets
and showers. Hearty meals served in the main lodge. Lodge hosts
nine.
Includes: Accommodations, meals, guided fishing, transportation
and
expediting during your stay in Smithers.

bays of Great Slave Lake. Most clients catch a 40" pike or better
with lots of numbers each day. Like most outfits in the North, this

clients caught a 51" pike on a casting outfit. Fully equipped 18'
boats with 25 to 40 h.p. outboards. Two anglers per guide and boat.
Guides are fully trained in wilderness first aid/CPR and are masters
in preparing a true Northern Canadian shore lunch from the morning
catch.
New lodge features home cooked meals and northern hospitality,
cozy, private guest cabins, hot tub and pitch and putt golf course.
Includes: Lodging, meals, guided fishing, airport pickup,
roundtrip float
plane charter from Yellowknife to lodge and rod and
reel, if needed. Does not
