250-miles north of Manaus, Brazil, Itapara Lodge has the best fishing for consistent numbers of really large peacock bass. Our groups consistently land 20 to 24-pounders here and large numbers over ten pounds. Good techniques include live bait, lures and flies. If you'd like to fish an hour or two after dinner, big unusual catfish species are also available.
Itapara Lodge is remote. It's a five hour, fast boat ride to the nearest habitation. The newly remodeled lodge is air conditioned with satellite TV, internet access and open bar. Bedrooms include private bath and shower. Nice swimming pool. Great buffet meals and free laundry service. Two hours downstream from the lodge are deluxe overnight cabanas that allow you to fish 70-miles of river without long runs.
