Dogwood Lodge - Biloxi Marsh, Louisiana
Fly/Spin Sightfishing and Conventional Fishing
Stay aboard Dogwood Lodge, a redfishing and duck hunting liveaboard hotel in the marshlands of Louisiana, 45-miles southeast of New Orleans. The Biloxi Marsh is an estuary network of 210,000 acres of coastal wetlands located on the eastern side of Louisiana, bordering the Gulf of Mexico. The Biloxi Marsh Lands Corporation, founded in 1936, owns approximately 90,000 acres of marshlands and leases a portion of its surface to private individuals for fishing and hunting.
The Biloxi Marsh
The Biloxi Marsh provides hundreds of miles of some of the best redfishing in the world. The salt marshes are vast, healthy, and provide easy access to great inshore fishing for redfish, speckled trout, and many other species, as well as great duck hunting.
Due to the almost year-round clarity of the water and endless wild marshes, the Biloxi offers opportunities for trophy redfish.
Reds love to eat flies in shallow water and often dine close to the boat! Sight fish the narrow bayous and shallow ponds for larger reds.

Typical Fishing Day:
As light starts to break in the Amazon Rainforest, everything comes to life. Parrots and macaws start their daily routines and light up the sky with their distinct chirping sounds. Ah yes, it is morning again. Anglers awake from their night sleep and head for the main dining cabin for a cup of coffee or tea and breakfast. Anglers pack their lunch for the day and head out with guides for an 8 to 10 hour-day of fishing.
A beach with some shade trees is picked out for a place for fishermen to have lunch. Two of the boats meet and Hammocks are spread out in trees for the anglers to relax in the shade while the guides prepare fresh fish and vegetables over an open fire on the beach. Small straight branches are cut and built into a grill top perfect for grilling today’s meal. A cerveza or two are opened and enjoyed by the relaxing anglers as the guides work hard to prepare and serve an outstanding feast. Piranha soup is one of the most-talked about dishes.
As anglers arrive at the new camp for the evening, the camp host greets them with Caipirinha, (Brazil's national cocktail) and appetizers. There is about an hour of daylight left. Guests shower, swim in the river, toss a frisbee onshore. After night falls, it's time for dinner in the dining tent. A bottle of red wine is enjoyed with the first course. Ice cream and a little more wine end the meal. Anglers make their way to the white sandy beach and enjoy a glass os scotch. The wind down before bed.
Liveaboard Cabins:
Each day, while the anglers are out fishing, the cabins are swept out and mopped, and the tugboat gets in place and the camp is pulled 20-miles to a new beach, a six-hour journey.
