Argentina - Estancia Laguna Verde Lodge
Patagonia's Giant Rainbows
Peak fishing is November 1 to April 15.
Catch your lifetime best rainbow. These fish average ten pounds, some are over twenty. Due to its remote location, Lake Strobel also known as Jurassic Lake, has just been discovered by anglers and in a very short time has become a “must visit” angling destination.
Jurassic Lake is surrounded by three private ranches, so access is limited. Other than the lodge guests, you should not see any other anglers while fishing Jurassic Lake and the other 15 lakes and streams. The first afternoon we arrived, our 2010 group of seven anglers landed over 100, 4-to 6-pound rainbows at Laguna Verde within 150-yards of the lodge. In 2012, these fish should weigh six to 8-pounds. The Barrancoso River runs through the estancia into Jurassic Lake and has rainbows up to 15-pounds. Click for video
The new lodge accommodates seven anglers with two double rooms and one triple room, each with private bath. Anglers must be in good physical condition to fish at Jurassic Lake. The last twelve miles of road before you get to the lodge are rough and rocky, and to get to the lake you must hike about 200 yards down a steep trail.
Includes: lodging, meals, guided fishing, alcohol, ground transfers from hotel in El Calafate to the lodge, daily transportation, fishing licenses, laundry service, short phone calls and internet.
- 2012 rate:
- 7-nights and 6-days guided fishing $5,200.00
